2025 Lutheran Disaster Response
-Southeastern Synod ELCA disaster response-
2026 Magi: Hope
-clean water for villages in Africa-

Love Offerings are chosen each year, usually presented at the Annual Southeastern Synod WELCA Convention. These are selected to support a pressing world need to expand our span of support outside our daily lives. In 2025 the number and severity of disasters within our own synod led us to select the Southeastern Synod ELCA's Disaster Relief Fund to support.

For 2026 the non-profit Magi: Hope has been selected as our Love Offering recipient. Maji Hope began in 2009 with a small group of people who wanted to do something to help others. When they learned that 80% of the illnesses in developing countries were caused by unclean drinking water and that a staggering 4000 children die every day from lack of clean water, they began meeting to change that. After becoming a 501c3 non-profit, they began partnering with rural villages in Tanzania to create clean water projects. “Maji” (m-ah-j-ee) means water in Swahili, which is the main language in the areas they serve. The name is fitting because “water” brings “hope.” In 2025 they completed nine new wells and in celebration of 15 years of clean water projects in Africa, Maji Hope created the movie, “A Walk for Water.” This incredible movie experience connects audiences with a young girl and her African village as they hope for clean water.
