Celebrate the bold life of Katharina (Katie) von Bora Luther and help to raise up bold women of faith for generations to come.  All gifts to Katie’s Fund support ministry in three areas: leadership development, global connections, and living theology.  Katie's Fund was established as an endowment in 1997. Since then Katie's Fund has raised over $1,000,000. The interest income is used each year, helping to grow and generate more support for ministry, year after year.

Here are some projects supported by Katie's Fund in recent years:

  • A workshop about bullying and outreach to leaders at the ELCA Youth Gathering

  • 25th Anniversary Liberia Tour

  • Tanzania journey to promote fair trade coffee

  • Young Women's Leadership Event at United Nations Commission on the Status of Women

  • Words Matter language project

  • Program resources of the Women of the ELCA

  • I Believe You, an Emmy-nominated documentary about domestic violence and how faith communities respond

Katie's Table

Each year at our convention in September we sell items at Katie's Table to raise money for Katie's Fund.  In 2019 we sold secondhand purses as well as some other items which raised $1036, and $828 from Silent Auction items, for a grand total of $1864! These proceeds were sent to the churchwide organization for Katie's Fund.

We sold donated jewelry and scarves at the 2022 Convention in Marietta, Georgia. We also held a Silent Auction of gift baskets, homemade crafts, and more! Beth Drane and her crew provided an awesome shopping experience for  us with the proceeds going to Katie's Fund.

Katie’s Table at the
2024 Convention

At this year’s Convention, Katie’s Table offered a delightful throwback with grab bags for sale! Inspired by the charm of yesteryear, each $5 grab bag brought back that feeling of excitement and anticipation—the joy of discovering hidden treasures inside. We invited units to donate 10-15 bags filled with fun items: baubles, lotions, snacks, and, of course, candy!

Some bags even contained a surprise cash prize—ones, fives, or even a ten-dollar bill.

Imagine the thrill of opening a bag to find an unexpected $10! For larger items that wouldn’t fit

inside the bags, like books, we had a display table where recipients could find their prize marked by a note in the bag.

All grab bags were simple brown paper lunch bags to keep the selection fair and the surprise genuine. We were thrilled to bring Katie’s Table to life at the Convention and enjoyed seeing everyone share in the fun!
